About the work
Scent of a Rose | Pink Abstract Floral Painting
Inspired by the philosophy of Henri Matisse — “To paint a rose, you must first forget all roses” — this artwork moves beyond form and into sensation.
“Scent of a Rose” does not attempt to depict a literal blossom. Instead, it captures the invisible essence of the Bulgarian rose — intense, velvety, and intoxicating. Layers of pink, red, white, and subtle gold create a luminous composition where color becomes fragrance and abstraction becomes memory.
The painting transforms floral symbolism into emotional experience. It is about presence rather than petals, atmosphere rather than structure. Feminine, refined, and deeply sensual, the work reflects the richness of nature and the poetic depth of the Earth.
The artwork received a Finalist Award in ART SHOW INTERNATIONAL GALLERY’s “4th FLOWER” competition, recognizing its contemporary floral interpretation.
Part of the Earth collection.
